Frequently asked questions
Which permissions does bdywrk ask for, and why?
- Motion: counts reps automatically using your device’s motion sensors.
- Camera: detects movement for camera-based exercises. Video is processed live on your device and never recorded or uploaded.
- Apple Health: shows heart rate during workouts and saves workouts, calories, and protein to Health.
- Tracking (optional): only affects whether free-tier ads are personalized. Saying no means you still get ads, just less relevant ones.
You can change any of these later in iOS Settings. If Health access was denied, enable it under Settings > Privacy & Security > Health > bdywrk.
How does automatic rep counting work?
bdywrk uses motion sensors or the camera (depending on the exercise) to detect each rep in real time, entirely on your device. For best results, follow the in-app placement tips for each exercise, keep the camera view unobstructed for camera-based exercises, and work out in a reasonably lit space.
How do I see heart rate from my Apple Watch?
Install the bdywrk watch app, make sure both devices use the same Apple ID and are nearby, and grant Health permissions on the watch. Live heart rate appears during workouts and is saved with the session.
How does the protein estimator work?
With Premium, you can log food in plain English (“2 eggs and toast”) and an AI model running on your device estimates the protein grams. Estimates are approximations — double-check anything you rely on for health decisions. If the model is delivered as a separate download, we recommend Wi-Fi the first time you enable the feature.
What does Premium include and what does it cost?
“Ad-Free Yearly” removes all ads and unlocks the on-device protein estimator. The current price is always shown in the app before you buy. It renews yearly until canceled.
How do I restore my purchase?
Open Settings in bdywrk and tap “Restore Purchases” under Premium. Make sure you’re signed in with the Apple Account that made the purchase.
How do I cancel my subscription?
Subscriptions are managed by Apple: open apps.apple.com/account/subscriptions or go to iOS Settings > your name > Subscriptions. Cancel at least 24 hours before your renewal date. Deleting the app does not cancel a subscription.
How do I set up the widget and watch complication?
Long-press your home screen, tap the “+” button, and search for bdywrk to add the widget. On Apple Watch, edit your watch face and choose a bdywrk complication to see weekly totals at a glance.
How do I delete my data?
Your data lives on your device, so deleting the app deletes it. Workouts and protein entries saved to Apple Health are managed in the Health app and can be removed there. If you ever create a bdywrk account (where available), deleting the account removes all synced data from our systems — or email us and we’ll do it.
My watch and phone aren’t syncing.
Keep both devices nearby and unlocked, confirm the watch app is installed and signed in with the same Apple ID, and open bdywrk on both devices once. If sessions still don’t appear, restart both devices and try again — then email us if it persists.
